Recap Of Whats Been Going On

"Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong; they are weak, but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me (x3), the Bible tells me so."

5/21/12

"The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I recieved mercy for this reason, that in me, as foremost, Jesus Christ might display His perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in Him for eternal lie."-1 Timothy 1
:15-16.

I finished 2nd Thessalonians and started 1st Timothy this past week, one thing really stood out to me was this: "Jesus Christ displayed (displays) His perfect patience".

At the moment I was just overwhelmed with this certain thing in my life, but He just reminded me of His grace and patience towards me. I find myself "beating myself up" because I can't find a long period of time to spend in the Word and in prayer like I find back home. I found myself constantly having to remind myself that He loves me and that I love Him. I got to read this chapter called Love's Law and Life in the book Being God's Friend by Charles Spurgeon.

Spurgeon writes,

"Do not I love Thee from my soul?
Then let me nothing love:
Dead be my heart to every joy,
When Jesus cannot move.

Would not my heart pour forth its blood
In honour of Thy name,
And challenge the cold hand of death
To damp the immortal flame?

Thou knows't I love Thee, dearest Lord;
But oh, I long to soar
Far from the sphere of mortal joys,
And learn to love Thee more
."

1st John 4 verses 10 and 19 came to mind.
"In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be propitiation for our sins."
"We love because He first loved us."

Reminding myself of the Gospel and what He has done for me, of course He loves me! And of course I love Him. I don't deserve His love, I don't His salvation, but His grace says it all.

I stumbled across Psalm 116 and it all came back to the same thing.
"I love the LORD, because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because He inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live" (vs. 1-2).

His patience towards me outstands me. I'm not perfect. I do struggle with things in life. I don't spend enough time in the Word and prayer as I would like to. But He is patient towards me. He is patient towards my sanctification and my killing of sins. His perfect patience.
